canon pixma mp620 small black cartridge problem!

Hey guys

My canon pixma has 2 colour cartridges, and a 1 small and 1 big black ink cartridge. When the big black one was used up I assumed it would automatically start using the small one? Unfortunately it didnt and despite having a full small black ink cartridge I cannot print in black

Any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Re: canon pixma mp620 small black cartridge problem!

The large black cartridge contains pigment ink and is used when you tell the printer you are printing on plain paper. The small black cartridge contains dye ink and is used when you tell the printer you are printing on any kind of photo paper. If you are desperate and want to get something printed before getting a new large black cartridge, you can tell your printer that you are printing on matte paper and it will use the small dye ink cartridge, but you really should get your large black cartridge replaced as soon as possible.

Canon i560, MP760, MP780, iP4000, iP6000D, i9100 printers.
I vacuum fill only Canon cartridges with Inktec Ink.
You can buy your own refilled BCI-6 cartridges: I have no plans to sell any more cartridges on eBay as the last auction netted no bidders. Besides, I get more money recycling empties at Staples than I ever got selling refilled cartridges on eBay!
