I have taken delivery of some Epson compatible cartridges in the last month, the T0711-714 sets. I dont know much about Epsons or the chips but have noticed sellers on ebay offereing these cartridges with the up to date V6 chip. When i checked the chips on my cartridges they are stamped V5.
I take it this means they will not work on some Epson printers, but can anyone tell me which ones? Is it possible for me to get up to date chips and fit them myself?
Should i be annoyed with the supplier for not telling me about this chip issue? thanks

If your supplier did not promise the V6 chip then you don't have a reason to be annoyed. Most eBay sellers will word their product in such a way that they can hide negative information by either not mentioning it or by claiming ignorance. You should always assume the worst. For example: "not tested" really means "failed the test".

The V5.0 chip will not work on the SX600FW, I know this from hours of trying to charge the Ink, the SX600FW will recognize the the chip but it will not allow ink to be charged to the print head, the V5.1 chip however works fine.

Hello all! My first post so I hope I am in the right place.
My Printer is an Epson Stylus DX4400. In the last month I have bought two lots of compatible ink cartridges T711-T714 from different suppliers, none of which work. Having read the above, I have checked these cartridges to find that they are all V5.0 chipped. Before I return them to the seller, can anyone tell me what chip would work and/or is there any guarantee that the 'genuine' Epson cartridges would work if I had to resort to buying them? Your help would be most appreciated.

To anyone who is interested. I left the cartridges in the machine overnight. This morning I decided to give it just one more try. Switched on the printer, took out all the cartridges, gave them another shake, replaced them, gave them a hefty push. All of a sudden my printer sprang into life again. Tried realigning the cartridges a few times. What do you know, back working again. Conclusion, perhaps it takes several hours for the inks to seep down into the 'wells'. Who can say?![]()
